Brooklyn Bridge Park has become the site of another grim discovery, as NYPD officials announced the finding of potential human remains near the popular tourist destination. According to Gothamist, the latest remains, suspected to be part of a pelvic bone, were found Thursday evening close to 45 Water St. by the East River waterfront, an area frequented by locals and visitors for its scenic views and attractions like Jane's Carousel.

The bones were spotted at around 6:30 p.m. near the aforementioned address, which lies in close proximity to previous finds made earlier in August, where human bones were unearthed on at least two separate instances. The identity of the person, who initially made the discovery, remains unclear, NYPD officials said. This unsettling pattern has raised concerns and questions among Bronx residents and authorities alike.

As a protocol, the remains have been sent to the city's medical examiner's office for a thorough examination. Their task now is to ascertain the origins of these remains and determine if there is any correlation to the earlier discoveries of a skull and other bones along the shoreline this summer, the NYPD informed Gothamist.

This marks the fifth set of remains discovered in the vicinity of the Brooklyn Bridge in recent months, signaling a disturbing trend. Sources relayed to PIX11 News that the skeletal remains are believed to belong to part of a pelvic bone. First made on the shore near the carousel in Brooklyn Bridge Park on Aug. 19, the initial discovery of a human skull was followed by more bones continuing to appear, police said.
