
Early this morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in Koreatown. At approximately 5:30 AM, firefighters were dispatched to a craftsman-style building at 837 S Kingsley Dr, a location previously affected by fire. According to LAFD ALERT, the two-story structure had fire showing upon arrival, and the crews swiftly went into an offensive mode to combat the blaze with additional resources en route.
The firefighting teams quickly managed to fully extinguish the flames by 5:46 AM, a mere 16 minutes later. "The first arriving 30 firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in 16 minutes with no injuries reported," detailed the KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire report. During the operation, firefighters came across lithium-ion batteries that had caught fire, leading to the dispatch of a hazardous materials squad as part of the standard protocol.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and the fire crews' prompt response was paramount in ensuring the safety of residents and surrounding buildings. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and there has been no immediate indication of foul play or the circumstances leading to the presence of the lithium-ion batteries involved in the fire.
The Los Angeles Fire Department has not yet released any information regarding the extent of the damage to the structure or an assessment of the property loss. The incident, occurring in Council District 10, was managed by personnel from multiple stations including Battalions 1, 5, 11, and 18.
