The Redmond Police Department has partnered with the BlueBridge Alliance to launch a program that helps people in need. Officers now carry prepaid debit cards, funded by community donations, to provide immediate assistance for things like food, shelter, and clothing to individuals in crisis, according to the Redmond Police Department.
"These small but meaningful acts of kindness not only help people in crisis but also reinforce the bond between the community we serve and the Redmond Police Department," said Deputy Chief Brian Coats in a statement. This initiative is part of the department's broader strategy to focus on community policing and strengthen relationships with local residents, as stated by the Redmond Police Department.
