Travis Smith, known in the rap world as "AR Trav" and identified as a member of the "Gas Guttah" street gang, was arrested by Sacramento County Sheriff's Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) Detectives after a search of his Fair Oaks residence turned up multiple firearms, including an AR-15 style pistol. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Facebook post, the cache contained double-stacked high-capacity rifle magazines, signaling a serious breach of the law and bringing Smith into the grasps of the legal system once more.
This is not the first encounter Smith has had with law enforcement; he was out on bail from a previous 2023 arrest made by the same Gang Suppression Unit —where two 5.7 caliber handguns were involved, solemn artifacts of a persisting issue in our community, moreover, for another illegal gun arrest in Honolulu just two months prior in October 2024, according to the same social media post from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Gang Suppression Unit Detectives have secured a bail enhancement, keeping Smith in the Sacramento County Main Jail until his court appearance on December 18, as per the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. His case shows the Gang Suppression Unit's efforts to fight gang violence and illegal weapons, while balancing public safety and civil rights.
