This Saturday and Sunday, North Park will become a hotspot for foodies and beer lovers with the grand opening of the Rising Sun Collective. According to an Eater report, the events will feature free samples, live music, a DJ, and multiple giveaways at their 3914 30th Street location.
The collective is a fusion of four Japanese culinary and beverage experiences housed under one roof, including the first San Diego branch of Okayama Kobo's Salt & Butter Bakery. Co-owner William Sutjiadi told Eater, "We have revitalized our space by bringing together a collection of Japanese brands offering 'Bakery, Bites, and Brews' for our customers." Menu offerings are diverse and San Diego-exclusive, ranging from shokupan pizzas to a colorful assortment of uniquely flavored milk cream breads.
In addition to Okayama Kobo, the Rising Sun Collective will host Matcha Café Maiko, Embolden Beer, and New Motion Beverages. A social media post from risingsuncollectives highlights $3 pint specials and a full lineup of matcha and hojicha beverages, complementing the array of Asian fusion dishes and vegetarian options provided by Sipz Vegetarian Kitchen.
The new venue sports a 2,000-square-foot interior that accommodates up to 50 guests, a 15-seat bar, and additional outdoor tables to be available post-grand opening. The beverage side features 16 taps for beer, complex teas, hard seltzers, and hard kombuchas, with sake, wine sochu, and chu-hi on the menu. Sutjiadi also hinted at future expansion plans, eyeing the Convoy District as a probable next step.
