
A 61-year-old woman from Riverbank tragically lost her life after being hit by a train last Wednesday. The incident occurred near Patterson Road and 1st Street, under the Atchison Road overpass, at around 10:30 a.m. Riverbank Police Services and medical personnel responded to the scene after receiving reports of the collision, as reported by the Riverbank Police Services.
Investigators found out from railroad workers that the incident was likely a suicide. The conductor saw the person on the tracks but couldn’t stop the train in time. The Coroner’s Office and Sheriff's Office helped identify the victim, who was a missing person from Riverbank, as stated by the Riverbank Police Services.
According to the Riverbank Police Services on their Facebook page, local authorities have offered their condolences to the family after the recent tragedy. They reminded the community that support is available through the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 and by calling 911 in emergencies.
