As the old year winds down and a new one prepares, Rockwall County also prepares to embrace change with two incoming Commissioners, Bobby Gallana for Precinct 1 and Lorne Liechty for Precinct 3. A signal of new visions and commitments, both Commissioners-elect have laid out their agendas for their tenure starting January 2025, detailed in an announcement by Rockwall County.
Gallana, a long-term resident and high school graduate of the county's very own, plans to keenly examine several key issues—chief among them is a detailed examination of the infrastructure development plan, including a proposed outer loop. He has announced, "I will be easily accessible (more details to come) and value your opinions, concerns, and suggestions," emphasizing an open-door policy to the county's population, as per the county's press release.
Strengthening subdivision rules is also at the top of Gallana's agenda. He aims to work alongside State Representative Katrina Pierson and Senator Bob Hall to ensure local control over development decisions, aligning with what he perceives as the intent of the nation's forefathers. In the fiscal sphere, a comprehensive review of the county's $55.48 million budget for 2025 is on the cards, with Gallana expressing an intent to ensure tax dollars are being used efficiently, as told in the official announcement from the county website.
Liechty, mirroring the sentiment of responsibility, outlined three areas of focus: the county budget and tax rate, road planning and maintenance, and the development of the unincorporated regions. With the budget set at approximately $55.479 million, he vows to be a steward of fiscal responsibility, ensuring that every property owner sees the benefits of prudent financial governance.
