A tragic collision between a dump truck and a train occurred this afternoon in Ruskin, resulting in the death of the truck driver. As reported by WTSP, Hillsborough County firefighters rushed to the scene at Old Highway 41 following reports of an explosion and found the vehicles ablaze. Despite the intense flames, no hazardous materials posed a threat since only gravel and sand were involved in the transport loads.

The crash not only resulted in fatalities but also sparked small brush fires in the vicinity. Hillsborough Fire Rescue, which responded to distress calls, confirmed the incident and the subsequent bush fires to WFLA. Sky10 footage captured the aftermath showing the overturned truck and the scorched front of the vehicle, with the sand spilled over the crash site.

According to ABC Action News, fire department crews managed to control the fires within about a half-hour of their arrival. Local sources indicate an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the crash which occurred early in the afternoon.

While the unfortunate incident claimed a life, there were no injuries reported among the firefighters who battled the emergency.
