A woman died after being hit by a drunk driver in Sacramento last Friday. The incident occurred near the intersection of Northgate Boulevard and Turnstone Drive around 8 p.m. Police and firefighters arrived to find the woman critically injured. Despite efforts to help, she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FOX40.
Following the emergency response and initial findings, the Major Collisions Unit led an ongoing investigation that resulted in the arrest of 50-year-old Jose Guizar Diaz on suspicion of DUI. This was confirmed by both FOX40 and CBS Sacramento, with the latter outlet noting that police have urged anyone with additional information to contact the Sacramento Police Department. "This recent collision, resulting in the arrest of the driver for DUI-related charges, and the death of a pedestrian, is a heartbreaking reminder of the real and tragic consequences of impaired driving," the Sacramento Police Department stated.
