The City of Trees is setting the stage for the arrival of the world's most daring and skilled extreme sports athletes. CBS News has confirmed that the X Games will be celebrated in Sacramento from 2025 through 2027, kicking off with its 30th-anniversary event.

KCRA has announced that the X Games Sacramento events will take place from August 22-24 next year. While ticket sales dates are still pending, Mike Testa, CEO of Visit Sacramento, expects the event to boost tourism and the local economy, with an anticipated $7 million in revenue.

Steve Dooner, CEO of California Dreamin', along with Sacramento Mayor Kevin McCarty and other local officials, made the announcement at Cal Expo, marking a new chapter in the city's relationship with extreme sports and entertainment. Dooner, a Sacramento native, shared his excitement to CBS News, stating, "This iconic event allows us to showcase some of the world's most talented athletes while also highlighting and engaging our local businesses."

The X Games lineup in Sacramento will majestically manifest through skateboarding, BMX, and Moto X, promising over 100 athletes competing for more than $1 million in prizes, while the names of participating athletes remain under wraps, CEO Jeremy Bloom has indicated an A-list of participants commemorating the games' milestone.

Amidst all the excitement, plans for a new water park called Calibunga at Cal Expo are still moving forward, as confirmed by Dooner in a statement obtained by KCRA. He emphasized, "We will begin demolition after the first of the year and build an entirely new waterpark at Cal Expo," with intentions to open in 2027, while construction will continue during the X Games.

With major projects like a new soccer stadium and the refurbishment of the Old Sacramento Waterfront already underway, the X Games fit perfectly into Sacramento's goal of rebranding itself as a hub for world-class events. This three-year partnership will boost Sacramento's global presence in sports and entertainment, ensuring the region's excitement builds as summer 2025 approaches.
