In a horrifying act that has stunned the North Sacramento community, a father has been arrested on suspicion of killing his one-year-old son. According to a social media post by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Andrey Demskiy allegedly beheaded his child after a family altercation early this morning.
Deputies first responded to a report of a family disturbance at a residence on the 7500 block of Versailles Way. Upon their arrival, they encountered a woman outside the home who claimed her husband, Demskiy, had assaulted her and her mother, the latter needing to be hospitalized but suffering non-life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to make contact with Demskiy, who was inside and refused to surrender, deputies were forced to enter when it became clear that the child was potentially in danger.
The apprehension of Demskiy was fraught with resistance; Deputies had to physically wrestle him into custody. It was then, in a gruesome reveal, the officers discovered the child's severed head in the bedroom. Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were quickly at the scene, piecing together the tragic timeline of events that led to the child's death.
The initial domestic violence incident involved Demskiy's wife and mother-in-law, who managed to leave the residence until deputies arrived. It was during this time that Demskiy, being left alone with his son, committed the act of violence. He was subsequently arrested and is now being held without bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail, with a court appearance set for Tuesday. The identity of the young victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office as per their protocol.
Support and resources for those affected by domestic violence are being highlighted by local organizations in response to the tragedy. The Sheriff’s Office has not provided further details, as the investigation is ongoing.
