In Sacramento County, a routine traffic stop has led to a substantial narcotics bust. Deanna Reyes, 34, and Jesus Henandez, 30, both from Santa Barbara, currently find themselves behind bars following the discovery of illegal drugs and firearms in their vehicle by the Domestic Highway Enforcement/Regional Enforcement of All Crimes Team, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Facebook post.
After a Honda Accord was pulled over for unspecified traffic violations, detectives and a narcotics-trained K9 named Ronan uncovered a cache of drugs; including 1 kilogram of cocaine, 18 MDMA pills, and 40 grams of methamphetamine. The search further revealed four illegal firearms, one made to resemble a cell phone and another with its serial number removed, an attempt, no doubt, to facilitate concealment and obfuscate origins, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, Reyes and Henandez were taken into custody and booked at the Sacramento County Jail without the possibility of bail. The case has since been escalated to the Sacramento Area Intelligence Narcotics Team and the California Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team, underscoring the severity of the charges the duo faces.
The success of this operation is a testament to the collaborative efforts of Regional Enforcement of All Crimes Team, which pools resources from various law enforcement agencies including the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Placer County District Attorney’s Office, and, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. These partnerships aim to leverage collective expertise to target criminal activities on the highways.
