The San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is seeking assistance from the public in a bid to identify a woman who passed away earlier this month. The unidentified white female, believed to be around 50 years old with brown hair and brown eyes, was discovered unresponsive in front of 241 Jones Street last Sunday. The OCME describes her as 4 feet 9 inches tall and 147 pounds in weight, with her legs wrapped in multiple bandages.
This case presents a rare challenge for the medical examiner's office. The decedent's identity remains undisclosed despite using numerous investigatory techniques such as checking government-issued IDs, fingerprint analysis, interviewing potential witnesses, and employing DNA testing. According to a statement obtained by SF.gov, these methods typically enable the OCME to make identifications within a mere 24 hours. However, their efforts have yet to yield a conclusive result this time.
Responders from the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) found the woman upon arrival at the scene and swiftly transported her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation, pending further analysis. The police department has contributed to the effort with a sketch artist rendering a likeness of the woman in hopes that it will aid in identifying her.
The OCME is reaching out to anyone with information relevant to the woman’s identity, urging them to come forward. Concerned individuals are prompted to call the OCME Investigative Division at 415-641-2220 or send an email to [email protected] or [email protected] and reference OCME Case Number 2024-1537.
