Firefighters responding to the blaze managed to prevent any physical harm to the residents. The San José Fire Department posts on social media detailed the complex's onslaught: four units suffered direct fire damage, two major and two moderate, with another four affected by smoke and water. The incident significantly impacted traffic in the vicinity, and authorities urged the public to avoid the area while the situation unfolded.
While all the affected residents managed to escape on their own, the raw reality of displacement casts a shadow over their safety. One resident recounted his narrow escape to KTVU, sharing that he believes the fire originated in his cousin's room.
