A group of three individuals, believed to be operating out of San Jose, have been swept up by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Retail Theft Task Force for their involvement in a high-dollar scheme that targeted local home improvement behemoths like The Home Depot and Lowe's. The trio was caught red-handed with almost $200,000 worth of stolen goods ranging from buckets of paint to rolls of construction tape and materials. They take buyer orders and fulfill these requests sourced from social platforms like Facebook Marketplace or OfferUp.

The Sheriff's Office reveals how the suspects swiftly delivered their ill-gotten wares to various job sites. "The suspects took orders from buyers—sometimes on Facebook Marketplace or OfferUp--stole the materials and delivered the goods to job sites," the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office post reads.

"Thanks to the Sheriff’s Retail Theft Task Force, all three are facing organized retail theft charges and were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail," the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office posted.
