Yesterday, the San Mateo Police Department responded to a call about a theft at Safeway on South El Camino Real. The incident escalated when the suspect, later identified as Jose PirirBoch, resisted arrest and became combative towards officers. According to the department's social media update, the situation unfolded as officers located PirirBoch near 17th Avenue and Palm Avenue. The suspect attempted to flee after threatening an officer with a metal chain.

Despite attempts to safely apprehend him, PirirBoch allegedly continued to resist and physically confront the police. An officer was ultimately forced to deploy a taser to detain the suspect safely. "An officer discharged his taser, effectively stopping PirirBoch from trying to assault officers," stated the San Mateo Police Department on Facebook. PirirBoch was subsequently medically evaluated and, after being cleared, booked into San Mateo County Jail.

The San Mateo Police stressed the importance of community support in such incidents, urging the public to report crimes and be observant witnesses. They highlighted that details like the suspect’s appearance, clothing, and the direction of their escape are crucial for law enforcement. "We need the community’s support in reporting crimes and being a good witness," the San Mateo Police Department's post read, indicating the value of cooperation between the public and the police.
