The holiday spirit is on full display in the Town of Northlake, Texas, where Santa isn't just coming to town — he's coming on a fire truck. Denton County Emergency Services District #1 announced on social media that their Fire Truck Santa event cruised through the town on Tuesday. Neighborhood streets were illuminated not just by Christmas lights but by the smiles of residents who came out to see Santa Claus atop a fire engine.
Starting at 5:30 pm, Santa’s ride was scheduled to end by 8 pm. Denton County ESD #1 suggested that residents wave "flashlights and glow sticks so that we can see your group waiting for Santa," according to the Denton County Emergency Services District #1's Facebook post. They encouraged local block parties where people could enjoy hot cocoa, caroling, and outdoor movies while they waited for Santa to arrive. An innovative way to truly bring together the community, one could reflect on last year’s successful events which were mentioned to have been quite lively and fun-filled.
In a heartfelt nod to the season of giving, it was rounded off with an acknowledgment of the firefighting volunteers, "Our firefighters volunteer their time to make this event extra special and we do our best to make sure we can see as many people as possible in our 65 square mile service area during the month of December," the Denton County Emergency Services District #1 said.
