Sarasota City Hall has just announced its holiday schedule for the upcoming Christmas and New Year's holidays. In a release published on the City of Sarasota's official website, it was detailed that city administrative offices will be closed from today through Wednesday for Christmas, as well as on Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year's Day. However, those concerned about garbage pile-ups during the festive season need not worry— the city's trash collection will continue on its regular schedule without any interruptions.
For those relying on public transit on the holidays, the Bay Runner offers some consistency in the midst of holiday chaos. Set to run its regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, residents and visitors alike will freely move around the city during the festivities. The city's assurance of transit services aligns with the needs of a community that continues to seek normalcy even as they delve into the holiday spirit.
However, not all city facilities will follow this template of uninterrupted service. According to the official announcement, Sarasota's recreational spots will observe modified hours. Places like Arlington Park and the Aquatic Complex will have reduced hours today and will be fully closed tomorrow, Wednesday, and on Jan. 1. Similarly, Lido Pool will not be welcoming guests from today through Wednesday, as well as on Jan. 1. The Payne Park Tennis Center and the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex will offer limited service today and will be completely closed on the following two days, as well as on New Year's Day.
For those looking to partake in cultural activities or make last-minute ticket purchases, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall Box Office will also modify its operations. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow and will follow the city's lead by closing on Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1.
