Residents in the Violet Way area of Dona Ana County are gearing up for a water outage scheduled for Wednesday, December 4. The outage is expected to kick off at 9 a.m. and last until approximately 1 p.m., as Crosstown Construction crews work to integrate a new water line into the existing system, according to the City of Las Cruces.
Specifically, dwellings on Pecan Drive, from NM HWY 478 to Violet Way, along with those on Violet Way to Astor Drive, and finally those on Astor Drive from NM HWY 478 to Violet Way are poised to lose water service during these hours, nearby residents may find themselves impacted as well, and city workers have been distributing door hanger notifications at least 48 hours before ensuring everyone's awareness.
Upon resumption of the water supply, the community could face discolored water as a result of iron, manganese, and calcium sediments. Nevertheless, official assurances from the City emphasize that the water, though potentially murky in appearance, shall pose no health risks. Laundry activities are advised to be delayed until the water's clarity is restored.
It's expected that normal water color should return within a 24-hour timespan post-restoration, however, if the water's hue persists as irregular residents are encouraged to run their faucets for about five minutes which should help to clear the system and in the event the situation persists, the residents should reach out to the City of Las Cruces at 526-0500 for further support.
