The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is intensifying efforts to locate an elderly man, Paul Sargent, 87, who has been missing since Tuesday. Sargent, who is considered endangered due to a medical condition that may leave him disoriented, was last spotted leaving his residence in Ellenton, Florida. According to a statement obtained by WFLA, the man drove away from his home on 31st Court East in a silver 2001 Lincoln LS, bearing the Florida tag LT COL S.
The Sheriff's Office has issued a Silver Alert in hopes of securing the public's assistance. Relatives have told the authorities that Sargent is known to enjoy driving around with his white Bichon dog named Sassy, which he likely had with him. His last known whereabouts were near the intersection of State Road 62 and Corbett John Road in Parrish, around 1:32 p.m. on the day of his disappearance, as FOX 13 News reported.
Descriptions of Sargent put him at 5 feet, 5 inches tall and approximately 150 pounds, with grey hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen donning blue jeans, a navy shirt, and dark grey shoes. The urgency in locating Sargent is heightened by his medical conditions and his propensity for disorientation, as stated by officials.
Anyone with information on Sargent's current location or any sightings of his vehicle is requested to come forward. The Manatee County Sheriff's Office's plea for public assistance was reiterated in a social media update, as seen on their official Facebook page.
