
Seattle witnessed a tragic event early this morning as a metro bus driver was fatally stabbed near the University of Washington campus. According to KING 5, the incident took place just before 3 a.m. near Northeast 41st Street and 15th Avenue Northeast, where a physical altercation escalated into deadly violence. Meanwhile, FOX 13 Seattle reported that when officers arrived on the scene, they found the 59-year-old King County Metro coach driver with stab wounds to the chest.
Efforts to save the victim were made as police and other first responders provided medical aid, but despite these efforts, the victim died at the scene. The area surrounding the University of Washington campus has been shrouded in concern and anxiety in the wake of this incident. A description of the suspect has been released—identified as a man approximately 6′1" in stature, wearing a blue jacket, and last seen running northbound in an alley— hoping that the public can aid in his apprehension.
The police have stepped up their investigation, with detectives interviewing witnesses and searching for surveillance footage that might offer insight into the brutal crime. A King County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit was brought in to assist with the search, but the suspect remains at large.
As the search for the person responsible continues, law enforcement is calling for anyone with information to come forward. KIRO 7 has emphasized that detectives are keenly analyzing available evidence to track down the assailant, as the safety of the community hinges on their swift capture and bringing justice for the victim and their family.
