A 24-year-old man was arrested by Seattle Police after a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle last Sunday night. The car had been reported stolen during a violent carjacking in North Seattle last Monday, in which a 27-year-old victim was shot in the kneecap. Police spotted the vehicle near Renton Avenue South and South Henderson Street just before 9 p.m. and began pursuing it, according to the Seattle Police Department.
The chase lasted about 10 minutes, covering different areas of South Seattle and Interstate 5. The suspect reached speeds over 100 mph before crashing into a guard rail on the northbound I-5 onramp at South Columbian Way. After the crash, officers surrounded the vehicle and arrested the suspect without further issues, as reported by the Seattle Police Department.
A convicted felon has been arrested and booked into King County Jail on several charges, including attempting to flee from police, possessing a stolen gun, and having a stolen vehicle. Police found a gun, a loaded magazine, and a ski mask at the scene. The Seattle Police Department is still investigating the carjacking and shooting. The stolen vehicle has been towed for further evidence. No details have been released about the suspect’s motives or connection to the carjacking.
