Yesterday, a Crofton roadway was the scene of a DUI and weapons violation, resulting in the arrest of a Severna Park man. Anne Arundel County Police reported finding 57-year-old Cristopher George Shaw impaired and seated in his silver Acura MDX, which was illegally parked with open alcohol containers and a Glock nearby.
Police were called to the 2100 block of Espey Court around 1:20 p.m., where they encountered Shaw slumped over in his vehicle, with signs of intoxication so clear that it was apparent without the need for a trained eye, officers observed open alcohol containers and a holstered black 43X Glock on the passenger floorboard of the Acura. Although Shaw possessed a valid permit for the handgun, his intoxicated state invalidated his right to carry the firearm. Shaw's arrest brings to light the intersections of gun ownership, alcohol abuse, and the responsibilities accompanying legal permits.
Following the officers' assessment, Shaw was taken into custody and now faces charges that bring him into the harsh light of the criminal justice system
