A truck met an abrupt halt as it was partially devoured by a sinkhole in Pittsburgh's Garfield neighborhood yesterday, pointing to the city's recurring battle with infrastructure woes. The incident on the 500 block of Dearborn Street trapped one of the truck's front wheels, prompting officials to rush to free the vehicle from the ground’s unexpected grip.
As the afternoon drew to a close, construction crews gathered, their equipment ready to recover the truck, WPXI reported. The incident prompted a quick response, with Allegheny County dispatchers confirming that crews arrived shortly after 4 p.m.
Per a nearby worker's account, "This is not the first time this has happened around this city," Hannah Colville stated, as per WTAE. Luckily, no injuries were reported from the sinkhole, and the road has been cleared and reopened. While residents and officials feel relief, they now face the ongoing problem of such disruptions.
