Last Saturday morning, a tragic incident occurred in South Montgomery when 19-year-old Carlos Perez, an AutoZone employee, was shot and killed at work. The shooting happened around 9:50 a.m. at the store off Birnham Woods near the Grand Parkway. Deputies found Perez with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by KHOU.
William Gabriel Aguilar, 19, from Spring, Texas, was arrested after a fatal shooting at a local store. He was caught nearby and is being held on a $750,000 bond. The shooting is under investigation. The victim, Perez, was remembered for his ambition and kindness, working toward his dreams of becoming an entrepreneur by cutting hair and running a detailing business. His friend, David Ackerman, said, “He really was the best out of all of us, he was supposed to have a good life, not this,” as stated by Click2Houston.
A GoFundMe has been set up to support Perez's family after his tragic death, with a community organizer saying, “Rest in peace to the angel who was taken way too early.” The motive behind Aguilar’s actions is still unclear as investigators work to understand what happened. The area behind the AutoZone, where a daycare center is located, has been closed, while the nearby World Champion Center continued as usual. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they search for answers, according to Click2Houston.
