In a late-night patrol meant to curb a recent spate of burglaries targeting restaurants, Graveyard shift officers from the South San Francisco Police Department apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in the string of crimes. According to a social media post by the department, the officers noticed an individual acting suspiciously around closed eateries and determined his appearance matched that of a reported armed man in the area.
The interaction escalated when, despite lawful commands from the officers, the man refused to comply with a pat-down search—which would determine if he was carrying a weapon. As the situation unfolded, the suspect's behavior became obstructive, eventually leading to his arrest. The police report stated, "During the contact, officers observed the male had a heavy, large item bulging from inside of his jacket consistent with a concealed firearm."
Following the arrest, a search incident revealed a more daunting reality: a loaded, concealed Glock 32, .357SIG semi-automatic firearm tucked inside the suspect's jacket. This firearm was equipped with a loaded magazine, and, notably, the suspect was not the registered owner of the pistol.
The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, is currently facing charges related to the obstruction and, possibly, further charges linked to the firearm possession. The police urge anyone with information about similar crimes to come forward as investigations continue.
