A series of incidents involving juvenile suspects has raised concerns in Southwest Houston. It started when a 16-year-old boy was injured by shrapnel at a bus stop on Richmond at Unity. Houston police began searching for the suspects, leading to a police chase and multiple arrests, as reported by ABC13.
The investigation sped up on Wednesday after reports of shots being fired from a dark-colored truck in the area. The Houston Police Department chased the vehicle and used a PIT maneuver to stop it. The truck crashed into a fence at Jesucristo es el Señor church near Hwy. 59 and Westpark. Four juveniles were arrested after a foot chase, as confirmed by Click2Houston.
A fourth suspect stole a security guard's vehicle after clashing with the police and the guard. "An officer and the security guard were dragged for a few feet while trying to stop the suspect," according to ABC13. The stolen car was later found at a Gulfton apartment complex. A fifth suspect, hiding under a seat in a wrecked truck, tried to escape but was caught near the church playground. Police found "two AR-style pistols and two regular pistols" with the suspects. One suspect is still at large, and the search continues.
