A Spencer man has been handed an eight-year prison sentence for his involvement in the possession and intended distribution of over five kilograms of counterfeit Adderall pills, which were found to contain methamphetamine. According to a statement from the Department of Justice, 30-year-old Jabriel Nabulsi pleaded guilty in June 2024 to one count of possession with intent to distribute a considerable amount of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine.
The incriminating substance was discovered when law enforcement, acting on a tip that identified Nabulsi as a major supplier of the counterfeit pills, approached his vehicle in Spencer on December 27, 2023. Nabulsi tried to escape by foot, discarding a blue bag, which was promptly recovered and found to contain approximately 19 vacuum-sealed bags of orange pills marked "AD/30," weighing around 5.25 kilograms, all testing positive for methamphetamine. Additionally, 300 grams of a substance testing positive for cocaine were also discovered in the bag.
Following the apprehension of Nabulsi, he was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman to a term of eight years, subsequently followed by five years of supervised release – marking a decisive move by the justice system against the proliferation of illicit drugs disguised as medical therapy. The announcement of the sentence was made jointly by United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy, Stephen Belleau, who is the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration in New England; Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble of the Massachusetts State Police; and Worcester Interim Police Chief Paul Saucier.
This case not only underscores the vigilance of federal and state law enforcement agencies in tackling the scourge of illegal drugs but highlights, the dangers posed by counterfeit medications in our communities. Assistant U.S. Attorney Danial E. Bennett of the Worcester Branch Office handled the prosecution, with noted assistance provided by respective law enforcement agencies. The conviction of Nabulsi culminates a robust investigation into the peddling of potentially lethal substances masquerading as legitimate prescription medication.
