Residents and commuters in St. Louis Park may have noticed an uptick in construction activity and noise levels today, particularly along Minnetonka Boulevard. A utility crew has been hard at work putting a new steel main into commission as part of the area's infrastructure upgrade, as reported by CenterPoint Energy. This effort is marking a significant milestone in the city's move to ensure reliable access to natural gas for its community members.
The bulk of the construction is taking place at the intersecting points of Salem Avenue S. and Minnetonka Boulevard, and Joppa Avenue S. and Minnetonka Boulevard. There, excavations are underway, with the promise that they will be backfilled by the week's end, as per CenterPoint Energy. While the noise and the presence of heavy machinery could be an inconvenience, the city has voiced its gratitude for the public's patience during this period of transition and enhancement.
Restoration of the affected areas is already on the docket, with asphalt restoration scheduled to begin next week. The restoration starting at Raleigh Avenue S., will progress westward on Minnetonka Boulevard toward Salem Avenue S., signaling the incoming conclusion of this particular phase of the project.
