St. Petersburg residents and visitors can now sign up for the shining event in the city calendar, the 8th Annual Fit City 5K & 1-Mile Walk set for February 1, 2025. Organized by Healthy St. Pete, a division of the St. Pete Parks and Recreation Department, the "Glow in the Park" themed event is inviting the community to partake in an evening of fitness and fun, starting at 5 p.m. in Vinoy Park, as reported by the City of St. Petersburg.
Acting as a beacon for health and wellness, the fit event isn't just a race, but a call for unity, bringing locals together to champion active lifestyles. Taking the steps towards a fitter tomorrow, it includes an array of activities suitable for participants all ages, and offers health and wellness resources provided by numerous community vendors. Participants interested in joining the Fit City movement, can secure their spot online at HealthyStPeteFL.com, with the race registration featuring a complimentary T-shirt, race bib, medal, and glow kit for those registered by January 5, 2025.
For the early birds, registration fees pegged at $30 for the 5K race and $15 for the 1-mile walk will be available until January 31, with prices seeing an uptick on the event day subject to available slots. As per Healthy St. Pete, the day-of stint registrations will cost $35 for the 5K race and $20 for the walk.
Yet barriers to entry remain low, with limited scholarships open for contenders striving to cross the financial hurdle. Queries about race scholarships can be directed to Meagan Young, Healthy St. Pete Supervisor, at her city email.
