Honolulu is expected to experience light breezes and stable weather through Wednesday, with sea breezes during the day and land breezes overnight. Later in the week, a front is expected to approach the islands, bringing a higher chance of rain. The front is forecast to reach Kauai on Thursday and weaken as it moves over the central part of the state by Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather is stable today due to a high-pressure ridge. "A dry and stable air mass will remain in place through today due to a ridge of high pressure over the state." Winds from the south will bring some moisture, with rain showers likely starting tonight and lasting into Wednesday. A cold front will reach Kauai on Thursday, bringing rain to Oahu and parts of Maui County. "Chances of rain will increase ahead of and along the frontal boundary with moderate to locally breezy northeast winds filling in behind it." The front could bring helpful rain to dry areas, as stated by the National Weather Service.
Gentle winds are expected through midweek due to "An E-W oriented surface ridge extending over the islands from the E." Winds may pick up on Thursday as a front approaches, possibly reaching Small Craft Advisory levels in some areas. A High Surf Advisory is in effect until 6 AM HST Wednesday for certain shores due to a NW swell. The front is not expected to cause major fire weather issues, as humidity remains high. The National Weather Service notes, "Daytime relative humidity values may briefly approach critical levels this afternoon," but winds will stay too weak to increase fire risk.
