The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine women's volleyball team is facing changes as three players, including star outside hitter Caylen Alexander, enter the NCAA transfer portal. Alexander, a Big West Player of the Year and All-Pacific Region honoree, along with Jacyn Bamis and Jackie Matias, will be looking for new teams next season, according to Spectrum Local News.
Leading the NCAA Division I in total kills with a staggering 611 by season's end, Alexander's offensive firepower has been nothing short of critical to the team's overall performance. According to KHON2 Sports, the junior hitter's entry into the transfer portal was confirmed on Monday, though she hasn't personally announced the change. Known for her prowess on the court and tallying 1,225 career kills, Alexander leaves a large void, a hitter from Alpharetta, Ga., who led the team's charge to a 21-10 season end.
Not to be overlooked are the other two departures. Jacyn Bamis contributed significant numbers in her own right, an All-Big West honorable mention with 262 kills and 82 blocks to her name this season. On the other hand, reserve setter and defensive specialist Matias, while not as statistically dominant, made her presence felt with 53 assists and 39 digs, earning her seasons' experience on the court. Matias expressed her gratitude, writing, "Thank you Hawaii ... 4ever the place I call home," in her Instagram post, as reported by Spectrum Local News.
