Over a year following a tragic hit-and-run incident in Brooklyn that resulted in the death of a 72-year-old woman, police have made an arrest. The NYPD apprehended 34-year-old Joshua Joshi of Staten Island, who is alleged to have been behind the wheel of the vehicle responsible for the collision. According to abc7NY, on November 16, 2023, around 6:40 p.m., Anne-Marie Wiesner was struck by a sedan as she crossed Marine Avenue in Bay Ridge. The impact reportedly threw the woman partly under a parked car, knocking off her shoes, and leading to her death at the scene.
The charges against Joshi include criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an incident, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and speeding. Caught by a witness, a video emerged showing the vehicle never slowing down. Carlo, who was double-parked on Marine Avenue, told abc7NY that the woman hesitated briefly upon sighting the approaching car before being hit, suggesting that the car swerved to hit her.
