An altercation over alleged marijuana theft in Sterling Heights has led to gunfire and an arrest yesterday. According to CBS News Detroit, the dispute occurred among roommates on the 4700 block of Runton Court shortly after midnight.
Sterling Heights police responded to a call and swiftly apprehended the suspect. As reported by WWJ Newsradio, the discord escalated from accusations of marijuana theft to threats, and, ultimately to one roommate firing five shots through a bedroom door at the other. There were eight individuals, including children, inside the residence when the event unfolded, though there were no reported injuries.
The suspect is now at Macomb County Jail and is awaiting charge determination, as the incident is still under investigation by the Sterling Heights Police Department. The Detroit News also confirms that the home was occupied by eight people at the time, adding a distressing layer to an already grave situation, given the presence of minors.
The authorities have not yet released details on the charges the suspect may face, but the Macomb County prosecutor's office is involved, and charges are pending.
