Kevin Fountain, a Stockton resident, was sentenced to 17 years in state prison for breaking his probation. He violated the terms of his probation from a previous conviction for burglary and assault. His probation was revoked after he left a rehab program and got involved in organized retail theft, according to the San Joaquin County District Attorney's office.

Fountain's legal issues began with his February 2023 arrest for first-degree burglary. He pled no contest and admitted to prior convictions, including a 2019 burglary and a 2020 assault. His sentence was suspended in October while he attended the Delancey Street rehabilitation program, but he left the program and was caught trying to steal over $3,000 worth of merchandise from Target. On November 13, his probation was revoked due to this new theft case. Deputy District Attorney Jocelyn Weisbrich was praised for her "exemplary" work on the case, as reported by the San Joaquin County District Attorney's office.

The District Attorney thanked law enforcement officers for their work, including Officers Ronald Zalunardo and Todd Valone of the Stockton Police, and Officers Nicole Valker-Taylor and Ricardo Altamirano, along with Sergeant Billy Boyle from Lathrop Police. "The actions of Kevin Fountain reflect a clear disregard for rehabilitation opportunities and public safety, and this sentence sends a strong message," Freitas said, as stated by the San Joaquin County District Attorney's office.
