An incident occurred at Hooks Airport yesterday when a man assaulted a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) employee and fired his gun towards workers. According to the KHOU, the incident occurred in the afternoon near FM 2920 and Stuebner Airline Road, just south of Highway 99 in Spring.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported that the suspect attacked an FAA employee who was part of a maintenance crew working on airport lighting. The man used a gun to hit an employee and subsequently fired towards two other individuals who were at a nearby tower. The assailant then fled the scene but was later apprehended at a residence. The motive behind the attack remains under investigation, as the suspect may have been experiencing a mental health episode during the attack.
Click2Houston report mentioned that a camera captured the license plate of the suspect's vehicle, leading to his arrest at his home not long after the incident. The FAA employee sustained minor injuries and required hospital treatment for stitches. Fortunately, no one was struck by the gunfire.
