
The New Orleans Police Department has arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for the November 17 mass shooting that resulted in injuries to ten individuals. Alex Harris, a 32-year-old Black male, on parole at the time of the shooting, was detained last Friday with help from the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole, as reported by New Orleans Police Department News.
According to New Orleans Police Department's investigation, during a parade in the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue, an argument between Harris and another individual allegedly escalated into an exchange of gunfire that struck nine bystanders and injured the suspect himself.
Now facing multiple charges including felon in possession of a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm, Harris's involvement in the shooting places him squarely within the criminal justice system's process of adjudication once more. His charges are also inclusive of reckless discharge of a firearm at a parade with additional charges pending as the investigation is still active and ongoing, as per the New Orleans Police Department.
Earlier in the case, Tavi Roach was arrested in connection to the same event. Found in a stolen vehicle that was seen leaving the scene, Roach face charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the report by New Orleans Police Department News.
