Sylvester Stallone has canceled his plan to build a seaweed barrier around his Palm Beach estate. The decision followed a town council meeting where he faced opposition from local residents, as reported by WPTV.

Stallone wanted to preserve the cleanliness and privacy of the waters around his $35 million mansion. "It's nice to be appreciated, but there's a tremendous amount of looky-loos, fishermen, tour boats and so turtles have been hit," Stallone told the council, as reported by NBC Miami. However, the plan faced opposition due to concerns about environmental impact, boater safety, and free navigation of the waters.

Palm Beach resident Susan Gary compared the situation to buying a house near an airport, saying, "I’d like to frame this discussion, though, with one thought in mind, if you buy a house near an airport, don't complain about the airplane noise, and it's a similar situation here," in a statement obtained by NBC Miami.

Another unnamed resident pointed to alternative solutions by suggesting that the seaweed issue was not as severe as claimed. "We’ve dove in that area. There’s very limited, if any, seaweed. So this is really about privacy for Mr. Stallone, and we certainly understand that and are sympathetic to that, but there are other ways of mitigating the exposure," the resident explained as reported by NBC Miami.

A representative of the Stallone family explained the decision to NBC Miami, saying, "In consulting with the Stallones, and after hearing all his neighbors and not wanting to upset the neighborhood and be good neighbors, they're just going to withdraw the application."
