A tragic incident unfolded on Interstate 75 in Pasco County yesterday when a motorcyclist lost his life following a collision with an SUV. According to the WFLA report, the crash occurred northbound, north of SR-56, at approximately 2:34 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol's preliminary investigation reveals that the motorcycle, being operated by a 37-year-old Tampa man, was trailing behind a Chevy Trax before attempting to overtake the vehicle. In the course of this maneuver, the motorcycle made contact with the rear of the SUV, resulting in the rider's ejection. WTSP notes that the motorcyclist unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the crash site.
The driver of the Chevy Trax, identified as a 25-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel, sustained minor injuries from the incident. The FOX 13 News report articulates that the aftermath of the crash severely affected the traffic flow on northbound I-75, prompting closures that led to delays well into the evening rush.
However, by the evening of the same day, the highway had been reopened to the public following the conclusion of the on-site investigations.
