A collision involving a church bus carrying children and a tractor-trailer transporting cattle resulted in the closure of Highway 25 West in Trousdale County, Tennessee. The Trousdale County Sheriff's Department disclosed that the incident occurred yesterday evening at the intersection of Hwy 25 West and Sulphur College Road, according to WKRN. Emergency crews rushed to the scene where injuries were reported, and motorists were urged to steer clear of the area.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol, pronounced that the accident happened at 5:21 p.m when a church bus, abiding by a stop sign at Sulphur College Road, entered the path of the oncoming tractor-trailer on Hwy 25. The larger vehicle, laden with cattle, collided with the right front side of the bus before overturning, as reported by WSMV4. This event triggered a shutdown of the roadway, with no estimation of when it would be reopened.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol's accounts to the local news outlets, the bus was ferrying 14 minors and the driver. The tractor-trailer was manned solely by the driver, accompanying the cattle. News 2 was informed that though individuals sustained injuries and required hospital treatment, including at least one child, there were no severe injuries. Remaining reassuring, the THP confirmed to WSMV4, "Everyone involved in the crash is safe and family notifications have been made."
The aftermath of the crash was chaotic, necessitating an intricate and extended cleanup operation. Livestock had to be transferred to another trailer, and veterinarians were summoned to the scene to ascertain the welfare of the animals, said the Tennessee Department of Transportation. The extent of the cleanup, coupled with the concern for the animals' condition, underlines the complexity inherent in rectifying the disarray brought by the accident. Not until the roadblocks were eventually lifted did the tensions for the local travelers begin easing, hinted a Facebook post from the Trousdale County Sheriff's Department.
