A Fulshear, Texas man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly setting his home ablaze with his three children inside. 46-year-old Pedro Luis Parra Pulgar faces three counts of attempted murder following the fire that took place on November 6th in the Polo Ranch Community, as reported by FOX 7 Austin.
During the incident, two of the children were reportedly able to quickly escape the home with minor injuries. However, first responders were forced to dramatically enter through a bedroom window to save a trapped three-year-old, suffering from severe smoke inhalation. According to FOX News, the child was then airlifted to a local hospital and has since been released.
Parra Pulgar, who sustained extensive injuries himself, was taken to a hospital shortly after the fire. Upon his release on Thursday, he was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail. His bond has been set to at $2.25 million. The family home located at 31619 Eldorado Lane has been left with significant damage.
Details on the motive behind the act have not been entirely clear as of now. However, law enforcement authorities have been continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the fire. "Officers heard faint sounds from within the home and entered," as detailed in the rescue efforts by FOX News.
