A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper named Austin Parrott is fighting for his life in the intensive care unit after a grave incident on the Dallas North Tollway. Yesterday morning, while responding to a single-car accident, Trooper Parrott was struck by another vehicle, according to a report by CBS News Texas. The roads, wet with the whispers of a pre-dawn drizzle, became the stage of tragedy shortly after 12:40 a.m.
In a scene of cascading misfortunes, the driver of a yellow Mini Cooper, 20-year-old Talha Noaman, plowed into the accident site near Keller Springs Road, injuring Trooper Parrott critically. Adding cruelty to the happenstance, the driver was arrested after being treated for minor injuries and now faces possession of controlled substance charges, as reported by FOX 4 News. The private security officer, a good Samaritan who happened upon the scene trying to direct traffic, was also hit but not seriously injured.
DPS Sgt. Josue de la Cerda stated that Trooper Parrott sustained severe head trauma and received CPR at the scene before being transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
