Three individuals have been detained following a pursuit and subsequent standoff that transpired last night in northeast Houston. According to Click2Houston, the incident began near Tidwell and Jensen when Houston Police Department's Northeast Crime Suppression Team located a stolen vehicle and attempted to pull over the suspect.

The situation escalated quickly when the driver, ignoring the police's attempts, instigated a chase that came to a halt with the execution of a precise pit maneuver. After having been taken into custody, a woman passenger managed to exit the vehicle during the chaos. She remained in contact with the suspect throughout the ordeal via cell phone, which suggested her proximity to the rising tensions inside the steal vehicle.

As reported by ABC13, the driver barricaded himself inside the car with another woman, claiming possession of multiple firearms and refusing to release the woman or surrender to law enforcement. This prompted the strategic intervention of HPD SWAT and a negotiation that led to the surrender of the suspect, drawing the two-hour standoff to a close.

"At some point, the driver alerted us to a small amount of explosives in the vehicle, obviously causing a lot of concern. Our SWAT team responded, and we were able to get the male to throw out several guns from his vehicle before ultimately surrendering to SWAT without any incident," HPD Lt. Riley told ABC13, suggesting the gravity of the situation as they retrieved firearms and a small quantity of explosives from the vehicle. No injuries had been reported from the site of the standoff as police work to determine appropriate charges for the individuals involved.
