A deadly blaze erupted in a DeSoto neighborhood on Tuesday, claiming two lives. The DeSoto Police Department reported that the DeSoto Fire Department was called to Canyon Ridge Drive around 2:33 p.m., where responders encountered a residential structure that was too compromised for entry. Support from the Duncanville Fire Department and DeSoto Police Department was enlisted as firefighters effectively managed the fire.
The involved agencies worked together in a defensive operation to extinguish the flames and prevent them from swiftly spreading to other nearby homes. Their efforts ensured the blaze did not expand beyond the initial property, and surrounding residences were spared from the calamity. However, the rapid response couldn't avert the tragic outcome within the impacted home.
No evacuation was required for nearby residents following the incident, as stated by local authorities. The City of DeSoto shared its deep sorrow for the loss of life and offered heartfelt condolences to those affected by the fire.
The DeSoto Fire Marshal's office is still investigating the cause of the fatal fire, with few details available. In the meantime, 1-800-BOARDUP coordinates emergency support for the affected families, offering help during this difficult time.
