A fatal series of events unfolded last night in Orange County following the pursuit of a stolen car, leading to one death and three arrests. According to information released by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and reported by WESH, a crossover of jurisdiction unfolded when deputies from Osceola County initiated the search for the vehicle, which ended in a neighboring county.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., the stolen car was located by Osceola deputies using a helicopter, pulling into the Chapel Trace Apartments off North Goldenrod Road. Deputies said two men and two women were seen getting out of the stolen car only to board what appeared to be a rideshare vehicle. WPXI reported that the subsequent traffic stop led to tragic circumstances when a man in his 20s within the rideshare vehicle self-inflicted a gunshot wound.
The man was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he died from the sustained injury. In the wake of the self-inflicted gunshot, the three other suspects involved were arrested without further incident. Authorities made it clear that, aside from the deceased suspect, no other injuries were reported during the crackdown.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating a tragic incident linked to a stolen car pursuit. A young man lost his life, and more details are expected soon.
