A Tuscola County woman is currently being treated for serious injuries sustained last Saturday after being struck by a vehicle on Gun Club Road. The accident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. near Mertz Road, according to ABC12 News.

The Caro Post of the Michigan State Police reported that a 56-year-old woman from Caro, whose name has not been released, was walking along the road when a 45-year-old Vassar man hit her with his SUV. The driver, also unnamed due to awaiting formal arraignment, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and is currently being held at the Tuscola County Jail, the Michigan State Police Third District reported on social media.

Following the incident, multiple agencies including Caro PD, Tuscola County Sheriff's Office, Caro Fire & Rescue, and MMR came to assist on the scene. The woman was promptly taken to a local hospital for her injuries. Although the nature of her injuries is grave, they are not deemed life-threatening, and she is expected to make a recovery.

An investigation is currently underway by the Michigan State Police. According to the original reporting entity, ABC12, the woman was alone when the accident occurred and the Vassar man was not injured as a result of the collision.
