Last Monday night in Compton, a brutal sequence of events unfolded that left two people dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a strip mall. This follows an intentional car crash in a parking lot.
The incident, which took place in the 900 block of S. Central Avenue, began when a male suspect slammed his vehicle into another car containing a man and a woman shortly after 11:05 p.m., according to KTLA. Both victims managed to exit their vehicle, the man escaping gunfire as he ran toward a gas station, and the woman tragically shot inside a local business the suspect followed her into, after which he inflicted a fatal gunshot wound on himself.
Authorities updated the case details on Tuesday morning, underscoring the shift in narrative from a double shooting to a murder-suicide incident. The tragic end saw the woman pronounced dead at the scene while the assailant, suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was later pronounced dead, as reported by FOX LA.
The condition of the male victim, who was not hit by gunfire, is unknown, he was transported to the hospital for injuries likely linked to the crash. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department does not believe this was a random act, as the relationship between the suspect and the victims remains under investigation. Detectives have not yet established a clear motive and are urging anyone with information to come forward, as shared by ABC7.
