Two individuals were hospitalized after a collision on Christmas Eve in central Minnesota. The Minnesota State Patrol reported that the accident occurred on MN Highway 23 north of Rockville in Stearns County and involved a Toyota Tacoma and a GMC Acadia, both traveling northbound when they collided. Voice of Alexandria notes that snowy and icy road conditions contributed to the mishap.
The incident, taking place in the early morning around 6 a.m., left the occupants of the Toyota unharmed, despite harsh weather challenging drivers. All three Toyota passengers were in their 20s and hailed from the Twin Cities area, driving through, unscathed by the crash. Conversely, Jason Elmore, 48, and a 33-year-old female passenger, both of Hawick, were not as fortunate. The occupants of the GMC suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital according to the SCTimes.
Authorities have ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor in the unfortunate incident, emphasizing that all involved parties were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
Hawick, the home of the GMC's driver and passenger, lies southwest of St. Cloud in Kandiyohi County. Being close to the scene, the injured were expeditiously attended and taken care for their injuries.
