Early this morning, the tranquility of Boston's seasonal festivities was punctured by an episode of juvenile delinquency at the Snowport Holiday Market. According to Boston Police Department, two teenage boys, aged 14 and 15, were taken into custody and now face multiple charges linked to a reported breaking and entering.
The call came in at 1:49 a.m., and the response from the officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) was swift. A patrol unit spotted two individuals dressed in dark clothing navigating the public space of Seaport Common, apparently making a beeline toward Northern Avenue. The officers adjusted their position for a better vantage point, but soon surmised the suspects had escaped through an opening in a fence leading to the Snowport Holiday Market. The assumption was verified shortly thereafter when private security apprehended the adolescents within the market's expanse, prompting a call for police assistance.
District C-6 Detectives promptly arrived on scene, working in concert with the officers to thread together the narrative of the night's events. Their investigation didn't just link the pair to the breaking and entering call—it also turned up a significant amount of U.S. currency found among their belongings, signaling a connection to the cash stolen the prior night at the same holiday market. As the sun rose on Boston, the weight of evidence led to the arrest and impending arraignment in Boston Juvenile Court.
The charges facing the youths are serious: They include trespassing, breaking and entering a building at night for a felony, receiving stolen property, and larceny from a building. Despite the holiday cheer that should be abundant in this wintery season, the two teens find themselves in a decidedly less festive situation as they await their day in court.
