A violent exchange in LaPlace this Monday resulted in two men being hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting incident. The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office reported that Marius White, 22, from LaPlace, and Jaron Robinson, 20, from Hammond, appeared to shoot each other following a dispute. The altercation occurred inside a pickup truck parked on the 2100 block of Van Arpel Drive around 3:40 p.m., according to WWLTV.
Following the incident, both White and Robinson sought medical attention separately at Ochsner Medical Facility in LaPlace for their gunshot wounds. Sheriff Mike Tregre’s office revealed that the ongoing investigation suggests that an argument between the two men triggered the shoot-out. Details regarding the nature of the dispute, however, remain undisclosed at this time. This information was gleaned from WAFB.
Authorities have made two arrests in connection with the shooting. Terrence James, 23, also from Hammond, had driven with Robinson to the location. Additionally, Judah Coleman, 19, of LaPlace, believed to be a friend of White, was taken into custody. An investigation led to the recovery of five firearms, including two unserialized "ghost guns," as reported by the WDSU. Charges against Coleman include possession of unidentifiable firearms, while James was charged with firearms possession by a convicted felon and a probation/parole violation.
The investigation into the double shooting continues as law enforcement seeks additional information. The St. John Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with insights on the suspects or the incident to contact Sgt. B. Smith at 504-494-3696, or to submit tips through their website or Crimestoppers. These details come directly from statements issued by the Sheriff's Office and are aiding in the ongoing probe to uncover the full story and ascertain potential additional charges.
